In 2012 Outdoor Discovery are offering a wonderful kayaking tour on the beautiful Italian Adriatic Coast  finishing with a day’s paddling on the unique canals of Venice.

During the tour we have local guides who are experts on the area to wow you with secret spots and the history of the area. We supply the sea kayaking expertise and will help you to update your skills and leave a more proficient paddler.

The tour is designed to not only give you a memorable kayaking experience but also an authentic Italian experience. It will include both sea and river kayaking touring on grade 1-2 water. The tour will include five days of sea and river paddling along the Veneto region around Bibione , culminating with a truly memorable paddling tour of the canals of Venice.  

Venice is renowned for the beauty of its setting, its architecture and its artworks. The city historically was the capital of the Venetian Republic. It has been described as "undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man".  It has also been described as being one of Europe's most romantic cities. 

It is known as the City of Water and the City of Bridgesandthe City of Canals a kayakers dream location! Venice should be experienced from the water in a boat. Most visitors to Venice will take a trip in one of Venice’s famous Gondalas however these can be quite expensive and relatively short trips.

The difference in experience by exploring by kayak is staggering

*Each bungalow has a master bedroom (queen size bed plus ensuite bathroom) and another room with 4 bunk beds (plus a separate bathroom). A fully equipped kitchen is also there.  Each bungalow will, therefore, be able to house 5 single participants or one couple + 4 single participants.

Itinerary

DAY 1….The tour starts with collection from Treviso airport and transfer to Camping Capalonga in Bibione.  There will be stop over en route for shopping for provisions. We will arrive in time for lunch and settle in to our accommodation. Option to explore local area with cycling tour and visit to local Thermal Baths in Bibione or a sunset/night paddle followed by welcome dinner in a local restaurant.  We will spend the evening in our accommodation in Capalonga. Bibione is very picturesque. There are some lovely walks around the area with beautiful views of the Italian Alps

DAY 2…. After breakfast we will start the day with a sea kayaking trip along the coastline from Bibione to the village of Caorle returning in the afternoon after breaks for swimming and lunch at a lovely sandy beach. We will have dinner at a local restaurant and a deservedly restful evening.

DAY 3….The kayaking commences after breakfast with a paddle on the river Sile or Livenza - this will depend on prevailing currents on the day... The paddling will be skirting the coast at a comfortable pace, and there will be breaks for a picnic lunch, swimming  and exploring. After a chance for a rest and a shower we will have dinner at one of the local restaurants and relax for the evening.

Day 4…. Today we will be taking a day trip along Bibione beach. We will paddle to the river Tagliamento and Litoranea Veneta.

DAY 5….After breakfast we will transfer to Venice and collect our boats and equipment and spend the day paddling around the canals in Venice. We will stop off for a one-course lunch in one of Venice’s many restaurants (included in price) We will continue the trip after lunch visiting some of Venice’s many historic sites such as the famous Rialto Bridge, St Marks Square.

After the trip we will be dropped off at the hotel in the late afternoon so that participants can have the evening free to go back to Venice in the evening (by public transport – not included) for a walk over the bridges and around the canals of this beautiful city.

DAY 6….Sadly our tour ends with a transfer back to the airport for flight home.  

    * Each days paddling will be run at a comfortable pace, including lots of breaks, and with the option of taking it a bit easier, or exploring a bit further depending on the individual.
    * The daily trips will always be subject to the possibility of some change, depending on weather conditions. However, we will do our utmost to ensure that we provide a great day of kayaking everyday.
    * Every effort will be made to cater for Individual needs, both in terms of kayaking and food/living.
    * All abilities catered for as we have the freedom to split the group on the water.
